Having served his military service in the German Army, Perry joined Schenker Deutschland in 1987, where he worked for 17 years. Between 1987 and 1993, he held various operational positions in different German branch offices.In 1994, he took over responsibility for the Seafreight and Project department in Mannheim. In 1999, he was promoted General Manager Sea and Air Logistics, followed by appointment as an Officer with Procurement. In January 2003, he took up the position of Vice President Seafreight for the entire EMEA Region based in Hamburg.
From December 2004 until mid 2006 he was Managing Director Operations and General Sales for ABX LOGISTICS Air & Sea Germany (at this time a subsidiary of the Belgium Railway, today belonging to the Danish DSV Group), stationed in Hamburg. In summer 2006, he joined Kuehne + Nagel Moscow as a member of the Regional Board North East Europe and Chief Operations Officer for Sea and Air Logistics in ten countries including Russia. After internal restructuring and the merge of North East and South East Region, Perry was promoted in January 2008 to lead the Russian Country Organisation of Kuehne + Nagel, comprising 3 legal entities and 850 staff.
