GM Components Holding, GM Subsystem & Components Operations

Bill Shaw began his GM career in 1975 as a Co-op student at Central Foundry in Saginaw, MI. He was promoted to Supervisor in Melting and Metallurgy in 1980 and later held a series of production, maintenance, quality and manufacturing engineering positions in castings and engine operations. In 1996 he transferred to GM's largest engine manufacturing plant in Tonawanda, N.Y. as production manager. Two years later, he was promoted to plant manager at GM's St. Catharines Engine Plant in Ontario, Canada, and in 2004 he assumed the additional responsibility for St. Catharines' powertrain components manufacturing.

Bill was promoted to Manufacturing Manager of the Engine Sector for General Motors Powertrain in March 2006, with manufacturing responsibility for 14 engine plants in North America.

In 2009 Bill became General Manager for two, new wholly owned GM subsidiaries with about 7,100 employees in the U.S. alone, GM Components Holdings LLC and GM Global Steering Holdings LLC effective September 1, 2009. The GM Components Holdings LLC, includes: Thermal Systems, Lockport, N.Y., Powertrain Systems in Rochester, N.Y.; Delphi Powertrain Systems Grand Rapids (in Wyoming, Mich.) and Delphi Electronics and Safety in Kokomo, Ind. GM Global Steering Holdings LLC includes Delphi's Steering operations in Saginaw, Mich. and most of the global steering manufacturing operations and engineering centers located in Europe, Mexico, South America and Asia. Additionally, Bill has manufacturing responsibility for Batteries, Electric Motors, and Fuel Cells.

Bill received a bachelor's degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from General Motors Institute and a Master's in Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University.
